Hopefully worst of the stormy weather has passed with daylight hours now are much longer by the time you read our latest update. So, a quick catch up on our winter months starting with a nice summary of our Area Christmas Cracker Run from Andrew & Karen Rudge.
“Let’s be having that top off” I said to my wife. “Pardon?” was the startled reply!
“It’s warm enough, you’ll see. Having the top up makes very little difference”.
Leaving that comment hanging, we prepared our Jeep ready to depart to Wetherby for the start of the Christmas Cracker Run. Weather Report: Quite warm for the time of year, with slight haze preventing the sun from quite breaking through.

Through Garforth, greeted by a few smiling faces and a few strange looks, on towards
Aberford, travelling alongside the A1, arriving in Wetherby at 9:45am. Bacon butties and hot coffees awaited. Catching up with familiar faces and hearing the usual Christmas tales of eating far too much. This year’s convoy had over 20 military vehicles (plus support vehicles) set off shortly as you will see from the photos, a varied selection of mainly smaller vehicles. Leaving Wetherby behind us we headed northwards quickly travelling through picturesque countryside and villages on the outskirts of
Harrogate. We made several stops on the route to allow our vehicles to regroup. More strange looks and smiles, this time from other motorists. We even helped a motorcyclist who fell off his bike trying to avoid a stationary transit van!

Our journey continued through more North Yorkshire countryside, heading towards our end destination – Millstones & Mill 67 – for the now traditional carvery lunch, surprisingly all seemed to find room for another roast meal. All in all, another great MVT Christmas run out.

We’re a hardy bunch up here so plenty of others braved the winter roads for a run out Nick Dunford and John Carrol bravely heading over the Pennines for a spin to the Southeast of Manchester across Saddleworth moor, pleased to see that Nick re-checked his brakes on the way.

Meanwhile, in workshops, garages and sheds much continues to be underway, Dodge Command Cars, Half Tracks and numerous Jeeps and Fords as new projects take shape. One looks especially interesting - a LRC Humber full restoration – we keep seeing teasers from the team (who wish to remain undercover for now) of their progress – all very impressive gents, we are looking forward to her being out for a run this season?
