Christmas Cracker Run - December 29th
Photos by Simon Balding and Brian Slingsby
The Christmas cracker run took place on
Saturday 29th December 2018. This was our 17th (approx) time of running this event, so its got good legs I think. As usual the weather dictated the turnout, and as it wasn’t too cold and dry we had the best ever. 27 Vehicles and approx 60 bodies made the effort to meet in
Wetherby at our usual monthly meeting venue of the sports association.
Tea, coffee and even bacon butties were available to get us going. Simon Roberts had organized a great road run of 35 miles through varied countryside to our final destination of ‘Millstones’ restaurant and bar on the A59 Harrogate to Skipton Road.
We had some great scenery along the way passing three of of the best reservoirs in the area.
Everybody arrived in good order with no breakdowns along the way. the restaurant provided a very nice carvery for the cold and hungry
( which was most of us ). It was a great venue and comes much recommended.
We were honoured to have our ‘Ofsted inspection’ carried out by a COM member Tim Hawkes who was visiting family locally and decided to join us for the day, hitching a ride with Valentine Travers in his ‘42 Ford Jeep, I think we passed ok?
Here’s to our next event the ‘crank up’ on Sunday 14th April
