On Saturday 9th November a local motorists café, ‘THE MOTORIST’ situated just outside of Sherburn in Elmet, and next door to the Sherburn Aero club, held a 4x4 and military vehicle day. It’s a great location if you want a low key event, which takes little or no organising and allows the participants to have a ride out and socialise with other visitors.

It’s a great concept and works very well for most weekends of the year. The place itself is very large with lots of good parking as well as a large café and restaurant with great facilities, which helps a lot, as we all know. There were approx. 15 vehicles that turned out for the day and it was good to see some variety in those that made the effort.

As usual tea and coffee were well in evidence as well as lots of talk about…… you’ve guessed it, military vehicles as well as a host of other important subjects. The early morning soon turned into lunch time as people started to drift away to get home before the very short winter afternoon disappeared. All in all a good day out and we can recommend the Motorist for any event, they have good staff who are always willing to help wherever possible.
